I was told many years ago by a very well versed man that when dealing with, or talking about antique vehicles, it is best to refrain from using the terms..... always or never... That line of thinking most likely applies to old boats also.... Bill

Thanks, Bill. Whether this boat should have a Hercules is a point which should be researched, but it does have all the Chrysler appointments, such as the sreering wheel and instruments  and there is no doubt that the engine is a Crown......25" cylinder head against 23" for the ace. I will keep my fingers crossed that your friend has the manifold we need.   David

David,   I talked to my friend that is a Chris Craft lover, his '58 is a 19' Capri. He did not have a manifold but he called a fellow that is, and has been involved in old wood boats for a long time. The fellow said he thinks he has a manifold setup and will dig it out of his storage shed. Both my friend and the other fellow questioned the application of a Chrysler Marine in a '55 run-about, thinking the engine should be a Hercules. My friends '58 Capri has the Hercules engine, it is a beautful unmolested boat that has never been in salt water and has been garaged it's whole life....Bill

Thank you Bill.  Since I posted the message, I have located a complete Crown unit and a complete Ace, but given that we are coastal I am not optimistic about the condition of the manifolds. Any help would be appreciated.  David

I have a friend here in California that has a 58 Chris and a very early 1930's Chris.  He is really into the Chris Craft's, I will ask him if he has any idea where a manifold could be found..... Bill

I just fitted a Canadian Plymouth cylinder head to a Chrysler Crown (25 inch, 264 cubic inch) marine engine in an absolutely gorgeous 55 Chriscraft Shepherd runabout.

I now need a Chrysler Marine Manifold,  ( water cooled, updraft carb) for this same engine.  Anybody in the eastern lakes states or provinces or anywhere else out of reach of salt water know where I can get a line on a good one?

I really want a ride around my local lake, Shawnigan Lake BC in this boat.     dp
