If you can't get spark use a very fine sand paper on the points. If it has been setting for long the points can oxidize.  If it does have spark try a shot of starter fluid.  If it starts but will not continue to run the gas may be bad or the fuel pump may be shot or both.  Mark

Based on what you reported there are a lot of roads you need to go down.? My assumption is that you have never seen this car run.? If you just purchased it here are a few tips.

Do a compression test to ensure even compression across all cylinders.? If your compression is even across with a reading 40 lbs or higher your engine will run if you can get it spark and gas.

Check to see that you have spark and that the timing is correct as well as the firing order.



Make sure you are getting gas.? If the car has been sitting awhile the stuff coming from the gas tank may not be any good.? You can fit a small makeshift tank to the fual pump to ensure clean fresh gas going to the carburetor.

If you don?t have one.., get a P15 service manual ASAP?? usually on eBay for about $20.00.

I bought a 47 Plymouth Coupe.  Put battery in, motor turns over, does not kick over and run.  But, I noticed the lights, horn, etc, don't work.  What part of the electrical system is off line?  What particular steps do I take to find the problem?     Ed
