Title: 33 PD Interior info.
Post by: twpoulter on March 12, 2020, 04:34:23 PM
I have a 1933 PD r/s Coupe that came to me without any interior trim, not sure how they got over supporting the back corners in the production plant, was sent some photos from the owner of one of the best PE's ever. His upholster used what I am calling Tacking Strip but I've been told it's a Tack Stick and another Pasting Lace, what ever it's called I can't find a source. The headlining is stapled to it before the interior finished panel.

Thanks

In my 33 PD there are channels that have/had what appears to be a tightly wadded up paper product jammed in them. The upholstery tacks were put into that to hold the edges of the headliner and the side trim pieces. On mine there were sections were the original tack material was too far gone to hold tacks so I just jammed some soft wood pieces into the channel at those locations.

Hi Tod, I have that but it finishes just to the rear of the door, there is a wooden frame around the quarter window but nothing round the corner to the rear window frame. I have toyed with the idea of buying some aluminium channel and wedging some MDF inside of it which would give the same result as the photos, just that I could do without the work. Getting tried of looking at it, wanting to go for a drive, it's been a long time getting to this stage. (Dec. 2012)

no advice for most,
but my convert had the same kind of strong cardboard pressed in such a channel
for the ragtop to be tacked on, lkike Tod´s. Didn´t hold new tacks...
Greetings from Düsseldorf!

Hi Go, someone in the States with a P15 Conv sent me a lead on a company over there but had no joy. Found another photo of the PE, the search goes on.

Kathy Schrack's Classic Auto Interiors did the interior for my PD coupe. A beautiful job in mohair. Good luck with your coupe.
