I think I want to drain some 2 year old gas from my 47 and would like to know what tool can be used to remove the plug.
I put Stabil in the tank the last time I used the car (about two years ago) but the Stabil directions state the it keeps fuel fresh for up to twelve months. My fuel looks a little like varnish.
Do you think I'm OK with the gas I have in the car?
Thanks,
Steve
i HAVEN'T OWED A P-15 IN SOME YEARS BUT MY 52 DODGE PICK-UP TAKES A 3/4 RATCHET OR BREAKER JUST FINE. Stabil will break down over time. I don't take the discoloration of your gas as a good sign. I would drain it if the car is going to sit. Be sure to have plenty of ventilation an turn off anything that may cause sparks.
Mark,
Thanks for the reply. Duh, to look at the plug it almost looks like a torx fitting but a 1/2 inch rachet with an extention loosened it easily.
I have been looking for a gas tank for years. They are hard to come by.
Thanks again,
Steve
Steve, Your right, it is a 1/2 inch ratchet. I should remember that. I drained my Dodge only a month ago.
