Sorry for the second post but does the Radiator in a 1929 need to be removed to remove the Radiator chrome shell.?
Tks, Chet...
No , I don't believe you have to pull the radiator. But there are only two studs on the bottom of the radiator and the two hoses, and the radiator support rods bolt at the top of the radiator to pull it. It would be easier to get the shell off without bending it if the radiator was off. Sometimes the bolts that go through the radiator to the shell need to be pried and heated if they are rusted solid. Maybe yours is ok. Sometimes the shell is rotted at the bottom corners of the radiator and the radiator itself could be rotted inside the shell at the bottom corners. Be carefull not to poke the radiator. Good luck. It should be a snap. 'Bill

Thanks Bill, that's good info...

Bill is exactly correct. Also if you are planning on having the shell replated it should be done in Nickle not Chrome.

Dennis,
Basically just thinking about getting the right emblem back on.? When I picked up the car it was missing.? The previous owner sent me a box of parts and the 28Q emblem was in the box.? I don?t think I would use the 30U emblem.? The 30U was much different from the 28 & 29.? The 30U?s motor had a water pump and different carburetion.., significantly different then the Q&U.? The 30U had welded frames and a different Master Cylinder and regular universal joints.? The 28Q&29U are basically the same model.? Actually the 28 was really considered a 29 by Chrysler.? The way I feel about it is that the Q&U were basically the same car like the 46,47,48 P15.? Minor changes but basically the same car.? The 30U is a different car.
