Title: 1931 1932 transmission interchange
Post by: 31plymouth on December 22, 2005, 12:17:06 AM
Can I use a 1932 transmission in my 31 PA.? I now have 2 early PA transmissions( hex gear) with a tooth missing from the cluster gear. I picked up a good 32 trans. I know the transmsissions will interchange, but the  transmission mounts are different. I have a good 31 mount (I should say good enough to be re-vulcanized) but the 32  mount is in 5 pieces. Any suggestions?

Reference-Plymouth Master Parts List-1928-1933

The PB trans has a different parts number from the PA.  Also noted-Canadian built PB had the PA transmission.  Then there is mention of a right helical gear and a left helical gear.  and then -- the left helical gear trans listing mentions both PA and PB.  According to the photos in the book some of the PA and the PB had the same transmission.  I guess I am confused.  Might be well to check with Earl Buton--He would know for sure.  Be sure you give him your serial number and your engine number
