Title: Tod Fitch you are right about the Repro air cleaner.

Tod..,

The Edmonds repro pictured on my motor does restrict the airflow.?

I guess it works OK with a dual carb setup but with a single carb it doesn?t allow the engine to breath correctly.? At low idle the engine runs rough and backfires like a sticking valve.? Once removed I can set the idle very low with no roughness and no backfiring.? I originally acquired two of these to use on a dual carb setup on a D24-230.? I am currently using the stromeburg carb with the auto chock on my P15 until I get the Carter Rebuilt.? The oil breathed doesn?t fit the present carburetor so for the time being the Edmonds Repro keeps the dust out.

It sounds like you are sorting things out. That can be frustrating but can also be fun. I think you will have a good running car with what you are doing.
