I have a 39
Plymouth that needs complete restoration and I am looking to sell it for
that. I want it to go to someone who wants a project car. It is
basically just a shell, no inards, no engine? I had always thought that we could restore it but time is rushing on and it is taking up space in one of our garages now and I
don't ever see actually having the time to do it. It sort of has a
history as it was in a movie at one time and we have the history, parts,
booklets etc that go with it. My question to you all is : can anyone tell me the approximate worth of this car before restoration??

I have a P8 business coupe that I am restoring from scratch. When I bought it in California about 4 years ago, it was in fairly good condition with the engine running. Value depends on a lot of things. The 39 does not seem to be a popular model or in too much demand. If yours lacks an engine and has not been restored, you would probably be lucky to get $2000 out of it. Value for this car depends on who you are selling it too, and how many parts are missing. The parts are not easy to come by. Where are you located. I might be interested in your vehicle if it is the same model and can be used for parts. When you say yours is a shell, what else is missing? Does it have the rest of the power train, and does it have all of the interior?

I will give you a different spin on the desirabilty and value of a '39 Plym sdn.....
In 2003 I purchased a complete 4dr sdn which needed a complete restoration for $200. at an auction..... I was the only bidder. The car was actually very nice with no rust out in any of the panels, the engine was dead, (stuck) but everything else was in good shape. The bad part..... the frame was broken in four places and the cowl supports had seperated, broken away from the frame and cowl. I parted the car out.
In October of this year I passed on a runnining, drivable '39 Plym P7 2 dr sdn that had an old, poorly done restoration............. The asking price $4,700.
