does anyone have the whole artical from david pollock on converting these lights to newer reflectors and bulbs.or is he still around to answer some questions.my lights still work but the chrome reflectors are flaking off so i removed the lenses and need to know what part numbers bosch or lucas head lights he uses. jerry

In your posting you did not mention the year of the vehicle you were needing parts/help with. I would have to assume it would be a '39 or earlier because of the reflector type head lights you mentioned.

I had my reflectors  replated by a company in Portland OR. they also supplied the high out put bulbs (halgon)  My lights work great....Bill

david, glad to hear you are still hanging around these mopar boards. i have 2- 55 dodge royals.both barn cars that have been sitting 35 yrs both have bulls eye headlights and are in working order both bright and dims. one car they are in very good shape lense and reflector. the other pair the reflecter are bad and even rust through on one light but they still work.i removed the lenses from this pair and they are in good conditon.since you first wrote about these conversions has anything come out that is more available[headlight bulb]. if not what am i looking for to glue these lenses to.i have talked to a guy that has them glued to regular headlight sealbeams but don't know how they look.have you ever been able to save the 6 volt bulbs out of these old reflectors?thanks for the replies guys? .

Bill, could you give me the address of the co. in Portland where you got your reflectors done? I am using 6 volt sealed beams now, and my wife wants me to go back to the "big eyes" Thank you, Bill James ::)

Gerard i dont know if this will help but there was a guy on the national Desoto club forum that was selling  n.o.s bulls eye headlights

thanks elmo 54,i have plenty originals to go around. just need to upgrade them. i haven't seen the desoto page yet but  i have seen used bulbs go for over $100. on the bay and new lights 270.00 a pair.if a guy could figure out how to take the bulb out of these then you could have the reflector redone.

For I live in The Netherlands I do have to have othe headlights over here, the our lightbeam is directed to the right, yours is equal centered. So I started looing for new goodlooking head lights. I came up with a pair of lenses they use in alfa romeo, special made for oldtimers, with H4 bulbs.They are bulls eye, not flat. The special thing on these lenses is that the H4 mark is on the rear of the lense, not on the glass. So from the front you cannot see the difference. Only specialists on shows will tell the difference. So If you do not want to spend 270 and want a good look, look for these lenses.
