Well, I had a look.........that makes me feel truly 'ancient', cos I remember those cars from the original fad, back in the mid to late '50's.

They were one version of the 'car craze' amongst the boys then........some of the boys were 'hot-rodders' who built their cars for performance, and some were the ones we called the 'bondo babies', who were into 'customising' their cars for appearances. There were whole racks of 'custom car' magazines in the stores, small format ones with names like 'Car Craft' and suchlike, with endless photos of these rather dramatically absurd creations.

Some of the boys....those who had wealthy parents......would make their cars over into fancily customised 'mobile boudoirs'.....to impress the 'fluff-head' young women. (I cringe when I remember the intensely sexist culture of that time)

Some of those boys were 'not amused'....to put it mildly......when I found the story of the 'bower bird' in an encyclopedia, and explained their 'car culture' in terms of that bird (look it up.......you'll chuckle)

cheers

Carla

its his (her) car (and money) to do with as they wish.....
that said, it still creeps me out, big time.
belongs in one of those Disney 'toons that my grandchildren love to watch over & over.....

Carla- I immediately had to Google "bower birds" and enjoyed reading about them. thanks!

He is known as Father Christmas. We live near a tourist town called Leavenworth. It may remind you of a bit of home? ;)

Scarey alright thinking how much filler is in those, they'll look creepier with time and neglect as the filler cracks and the rust creeps out.
