I am replacing my master cylinder and am very wary about removing the clips that hold the linkage pin in. I was hoping that you guys could shed some light on what would be the right way to detatch the master cylinder from the brake pedal linkage, as this is my first time doing this job and I would really prefer not to do things wrong. You did not say what car you are doing this on.? Remove the pin or bolt the connects the master cylinder piston push rod to the brake petal casting.? Then remove the brake petal shaft by removing the "C" shaped clip.? Make yourself a "U" shaped tool that just fits over the shaft thus pushing on both sides of the clip at the same time.? You can push on one side of the clip but it will just rotate around the shaft, causing you to cuss.? Two bolts fasted the master cylinder to the frame.? Lastly remove the brake line.? On some cars is is better to pull the master cylinder upward in to the engine compartment rather than have it pass through all of the linkage toward the floor.? On my 40 business coupe the clutch linkage caused a problem getting the pin out.
