Title: stalling
Post by: Edwin K. on September 09, 2006, 09:54:43 PM
I have a 50 coupe. Last year, I began having an occasional problem where the car would stall as I pushed in the clutch while stopping at a traffic light. As the car stopped, I would realize the engine had stalled. No problem restarting. Otherwise it runs well. I just found that increasing the idle speed has made it stall less often. It seems to be most likely to stall when stopping on a downhill slope. Could this be a float level problem or an idle jet problem? The carb was done 5 years ago by a rebuilder. Thanks for any advice.

just take the lid off the carb ( you do not have to take the carb off the engine ) and make sure the float is set to specs or even on the high side and I think your problem will be solved.

     or

You can raise the float level without removing the lid by disconnecting the gas line and removing the needle and seat assembly (9/16 wrench) . Add an extra washer and re install.
