Title: 1951 gas gauge question
Post by: Bill Davis on September 04, 2006, 01:36:48 AM
Hi All,

I have a '51 Plymouth Cambridge.  About six months ago, when ever I filled the fuel tank,
the fuel gauge would read "E".  Then, after some time of useage (when the tank got to
about 1/2 full), the gauge would work correctly from 1/2 to empty.  Now, with a little less
than 1/2 full, if I go around a corner to the right, the gauge needle goes to "E" (actually
slams to"E"), then recovers to read normally when I straighten out after the turn.  Do both of
these problems point to the tank gauge and not the dash gauge?  Thanks for your help.

I changed the float in my '51 Cambridge after experiencing a similar problem.  Reads fine now.
