Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share a bit of a nice experience I had with me 52 Cranbrook this past month.
I have owned the car for just a year now. With respects to this club's wishes I should inform all the car has been modified for comfort/endurance/appearance (to me).
I have made the following;
Install a 12 volt system
AC by Vintage Air
Overdrive transmission (correct for car but not original)
Converted the original radio to AM/FM/10 disc CD , with working push buttons, etc.
Relocated the king pin on the front suspension for a drop of 3 inches,
Mounted the front shock to connect to the frame so it will actually work. (for those with shocks in the front, take a good look where they are attached)
Installed a three row radiator, alternator, AC compressor and condenser, pusher fan
Year of Make,, (YOM) license plates, (correct for 1952), with the tags NOT attached the license, but bolted above it.
I did all these changes within three months of my trip. It was very very close. Down to three days and found a faulty radiator cap that would not open, and the pressure split the top seam of the unit. Got that fixed.
Then I took of for Woodward Ave in Detroit MI. Reported as the largest car cruise/show in the world. For one day there are 40,000 hot rods, and over a million people lining up Woodward through 9 cities to see all the cars. Plus the big three put on huge displays/shows/entertainment for that whole week.

I have been there twice, one time I flew in (my engine was blown up in my prowler down in South Dakota at a previous event), and drove home. The second I drove my 2000 Plymouth Prowler there and back. This time I took my gorgeous 1952 Plymouth Cranbrook 4 door sedan. What a blast. Did you know there is a town very close called Cranbrook? and a University there also.
I took 4 days up, 5 home as I stopped in Denver to visit a buddy. I spent 9 days there, cruising, enjoying, smiling ear to ear.
I only saw three other Plymouth's close to my year, such a shame, I cannot count the amount of compliments, welcomes I got from everyone who saw my car. The Plymouth lives still, everyone remembers theirs, or someone who had a car like mine.
All in all the car went over 6,000 miles on this trip, with little trouble. I had to pull over twice for heat. ( I need to relocate the condenser somewhere else). At one point I went 14 hours of freeway driving with NO hassles whatsoever.
Anyway, I realize my car is not completly stock, but it has all the correct trim, chrome, wheels as original.. Other than its stance, it looks like it came off the assembly line.
I just wanted to share how proud I am of the car, how much fun I cannot describe here.
The Plymouth lives inside many people than just us.
Happy Driving. :)
John,
Glad to hear you had a great trip in your Cranbrook.? The perfect payoff to a lot of hard work!? The mods you did to the car make perfect sense to me.? I agree that you don't see too many of them at shows or cruises.....these cars are really under-appreciated by most people.

Hope you had a good time here. I only live a block off Woodward. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up. Didn't get a chance to cruise Woodward this year. Blew a head gasket a week before the cruise. Hope to have it up and running this week. Attendance was down this year. Last year it was between 1.1 & 1.5 million. ONLY about 1 million this year.

John
Wasn't sure if that was your car. Thought I'd take a chance and post the picture. Not bad, out of 20,000+ cars, I'd get a picture of yours. I've been cruising Woodward since the late '50's.

John, glad to hear you had a safe trip. The last time I was at Dream Cruise, you had your Prowler there. Maybe I will see you in Tulsa next year, if you are planning to attend.
Thanks Dave, I will be there. Made my reservations a few days ago.
