Title: Need help finding information on Suburbans
Post by: kirsten on August 20, 2006, 06:38:26 PM
Hi there. I recently purchased a 1956 Plymouth Suburban Custom Wagon. I have owned several old cars before but this is my first Mopar and I don't know that much about it. I am currently restoring the wagon but it is hard to find parts just searching the year and model. Can someone tell me if earlier or later makes/models parts work with this year Suburban? Such as, I need a carpet kit but all I can find is 57 and later and I don't know if that fits the 56. Also, aside from the back of the car, is the 56 Savoy pretty much the same as the 56 Suburban?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, what kind of body is this car (letter).
Thanks!

Kirsten

The Suburban Plymouths shared all their mechanical components with the other Plymouth and some Dodge body styles for 1956 The Savoy was the mid line Plymouth available in six or V8, each offering standard, standard with overdrive, or Powerflite automatic transmissions   Steering is different on the V8 models as an idler arm is used. Power steering is a rare option but very desirable.

The 57 models were entirely new body-wise.  Your car would share carpets and floor mats with the 55 models only.   dp
