Title: 40 Ply Tie Rod Ends
Post by: Don St Peter on August 15, 2006, 06:52:48 PM
I received new tie rod ends today from Andy B and other than grease zerk location they ( new ones ) appear to be the same. Also there are no identifying marks indicating L, R, inner, outer although his manual shows different identifiers for each. I also note that his book says to be sure to state which is being ordered. Also the tie rod body thickness measures 1/38" on his and just under 1" on the ones installed on my car. Before I talk to him and sound stupid, Can someone tell me
1)  Are the measurements irrelevant & it's just a replacement part thing?
2)   Is there a clearance issue with the thicker body?
3)   Can they be installed in any location ( inner, outer, Left, Right?
Thanks in Advance!
Don

I don't know on your "new" car but on my old 1933 one side has left hand threads while the other has right hand threads. That allows you to turn the tie rod to adjust the toe in.
