Title: 1952 engine colors
Post by: James on July 31, 2006, 02:50:52 PM
What colors are appropriate for the 1952 Plymouth engines? I understand that the 1951's were either silver or gray; gray because silver paint was difficult to get during the Korean war. Are the 1952's all gray? Thanks

Gray - silver/aluminum was still in short supply because of the Korean War

Okay Jim, I'll go with the gray. Now does anyone know where we can obtain gray engine enamine.

I have found only a couple sources:

New Ford gray engine enamel by VHT (too dark)
202 Universal Gray Engine Enamel - Spray Paint by Temple (no color sample provided)
Chevrolet Gray Engine Enamel - quart by Bill Hirsch (no color sample)

Does anyone have any experience with Temple or Hirsch?
Has anyone seen these too paint colors?
Thanks!

You can get the Silver from Mopar. It's a bit pricey, but you can also get Silver Engine paint from Duplicolor DE 1615 I think it is. It is a real close Silver to the original Mopar silver and it runs around $8.00. It's close enough that you wouldn't be able to tell it is not.
