Title: 1936 plymouth carb type
Post by: ParkBear on June 30, 2006, 10:43:59 PM
I have a 1936 plymouth p2. I'm trying to find out what type of carburetor it came with. A local carb shop looked it up and he says the original was a stromberg exv-2 but the carter BBR1 was a replacement carb. I believe it had a carter on it. Should I try and find a carter or stromberg or a carter to go original.
Thanks for any info

My service manual for 1936-42 lists Carter C6E1 and C6E2 as the two carburetors for 1936. Quite often the higher end model would have one component and the lower one the other but I don't see a note on which would be P1 versus P2 in the table.

The Standard Catalogue of Chrysler 1914-2000, 2nd. ed., edited by James T Lenzke (Iola, Wisconsin:Krause Publications, c.2000), page 411---reports that Carter carburetors BB439S or  B6F1 or C6E1-2 were used on the P1 and P2, and adds that the economy engine had a different carburetor as an option.
