What should the mixture screw at the base of the carb be-out from seated 1 turn or more? less?
the car misses when the choke is wide open. seemingly runs ok when the choke is half closed-

Warm the car up to an idle speed.  Turn idle screw slowly clockwise until engine starts to falter, the turn same screw counterclockwise in engine starts to roll/surge from being too rich.  Turn screw clockwise again until you get the smoothest operation.
