Title: 1941 Plymouth Business Coupe Build Card Question
Post by: bcudajoe on May 03, 2023, 12:15:38 PM
I just received a copy of the "Service Car Record" (i.e. Build Card) for my black 1941 Plymouth Deluxe business coupe and was happy to learn that the engine is original to the car.  I have a question however regarding the entries for "Special Equipment - A.T. Horn" and "Paint and Trim Codes - Vents. 101-120".  The car does have the dual trumpet horn and is black. I'm not sure what the "A.T." stands for and what the "Vents" means?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

I am not sure what your exact questions are. But I will pipe in to note that for many years in the 1930s, 101 code number was for black.

The second number would be for the upholstery but I don't have any clue what a 120 code would be for. The 200s were often mohair, the 300s were typically some sort of broadcloth, 400s often for leather.

The Plymouth Owners Club technical advisor for that year might well have the information you are looking for.

Thanks for your response TodFitch.  I will contact the technical advisor for 1941 and see if he may have any information. BTW, the interior is mohair (beige) and is original.

After months of research I think I may have answered my own questions regarding several codes on my build card. From what I have determined, the "A.T. horn" entry appears to be for the optional "air tone" dual horn and the "Vents" entry is for the door ventilators which were optional on the Deluxe model.  Also, the trim code "120" designates a mohair trim. Thanks for everyone who has responded to my post.
