Tried doing a search, no luck. 53 P24 218 best procedure for valve guide removal and install?
Thank you.
Do You have a Service Manual?
There You find a (short) chapter on valves etc.
If You don´t have, I could scan these 4 pages for You.
I don´t have more on valves.

Reprints of various factory service manuals are available. Or at least were available not too long ago and I suspect they still are. As Go suggests, they are a good thing to have.
Unfortunately none of the three different era factory service manuals I have that cover 1934 through 1954 say how to remove the valve guides. Just the tolerances for installing new ones. I have a non-factory manual covering 1933 through 1936 that says you use a "valve guide removing tool" which is not much help.
My 1940-1953 Chilton's Auto Repair Manual says (using italics because I don't see a block quote tool in the formatting for this forum):
Perhaps the best way to pull out a valve guide is to secure a bolt of very high quality (such as a long threaded Allen bolt) and insert it down through the valve guide in place of the valve. Set large washers up on the cylinder head to lift the bolt head well up over the cylinder head. Screw a nut on the lower end of the bold where it sticks out the bottom of the valve guide and tighten the nut. This will draw the valve guide up through the top of the head.
Since the valve guides are a very tight fit in their bores, it is necessary to use a bolt of extra fine quality since an ordinary bolt will break before the valve guide will move.
There are, of course, special hydraulic tools made for the purpose of removing valve guides.
I think they mean block when they write "cylinder head".
I have also heard that you can drive the guide down and then use a cold chisel to break off parts as they come into view.
Thanks for the replies. I have the Plymouth repair manual and also Motor manual. I found a pneumatic driver at Goodson.com #PH2229A-G for $20.00. Was just curious what others are using. Watched a video on youtube from Keith's Garage, he removed them with a homemade pneumatic driver, but had his machine shop install them.
Thanks again.
