What is the best grease to use on these old cars for the wheel bearings.
I have always used old fashioned "long fiber" wheel bearing grease. "Fiber" is a bit misleading as there are no fibers in it, rather the grease is rather stringy when you pull at it. That stringiness is what helps it adhere to the bearings and lubricate them.
Anyway, the last time I bought some it was labeled as for use on non-disk brake applications.
I suppose the disk brake grease would also work. It is my understanding that the reason they switched grease when disk brakes came out is that the hubs could get a lot hotter with disk brakes and the old long fiber grease broke down with the heat.
