I have two new distributors that I believe may fit a 1949-? 6cyl. Both have a casting number on the bottom of the housing " IAT1032". Can anyone help me to correctly ID what these distributors fit?
From what i just read, IAT1032 is the distributor cap number. The distributor itself should have a number
(for this era) of IAT4XXX. Do the distributors have an AutoLite tag on the side of them (just under the cap) ?
Bill, Thanks for trying to help. These distributors are brand new, with no tags at all. Almost looks like they were intended to be a replacement part. The underside of the body of the distributor has a casting id of IAT 1032. Nothing else. The cap on its underside has the id IAT-33 and on top has "Autolite" cast into the cap around the center coil tower. Do they look like anything from that era? I got them from a guy that has a 1935 Plymouth and he did not recognize them. I also found some IAT1033 numbers on the internet that seemed to indicate that they might be 1949 or later distributors. Any thoughts? Any ideas of who might be able to iD these? Thanks again, Ron
Sorry for my late reply. From what i can gather from my 1951 service manual, you appear to have the "later model" distributors,
meaning (I think) 1949 or later, judging from the distributor cap and rotor. See photos.
