Title: 1939 P-8-Ignition coil
Post by: DENNIS P NOLAN on March 09, 2021, 06:05:54 PM
I want to replace the coil- it has only 1 terminal-all of the replacement coils I have seen-have 2 terminals-
It is mounted on the firewall-and has 1 wire-
So, where might I get a coil like this?
or what would a good replacement be?
Thanks,D

There is an armored cable between the ignition switch and the coil that is the second wire. There might be some old stock versions available on eBay. And KM Lifestyle at http://www.mykmlifestyle.com/Cadillac_Ignition_Coil_C5PR.html might have something for a lot of $$$$

Since you can start the car I assume that your existing coil is not totally dead. Personally, if it is working and the spark reasonably hot, I would leave it be for now and simply keep my eye open for an old stock replacement.
