Title: 1949 P-18 fuel pump
Post by: 28 Ply.cpe on August 15, 2020, 07:52:34 PM
The fuel pump is fuel of junk. Pulled it off the car and opened my new rebuild kit.  This pump on the car over the years was replaced with a dual action pump. The rebuild kit I bought does not have the vacuum side of the pump diaphram gasket. Do I reuse my old one .The kit cam with a new spring but not the diaphram rod and gasket. Should I just buy the glass bowl style original fuel pump. What is the purpose of the dual action for this car.  It has one vacuum line coming off it and the gas line.

I rebuilt the fuel pump with the normal rebuild kit and reused the diaphram for the vacuum side. All works well and the car started right up after priming the carb a couple times.
