Title: Transmission leakdown
Post by: LarryW on May 23, 2006, 10:11:13 AM
My daughter and husband own a 56 Plymouth two door with the pushbutton automatic trans.  When it sits for an extended period, as the torque converter leaks down into the pan, the fluid level goes above the point where the cable for the pushbutton enters the trans and it then leaks out of the cable onto floor.  What is the fix for this...is there suppose to be an "O" ring there somewhere?? What in your experience causes this??  they are so discusted with this that they are ready to dump it and get a "Vette" or something equally as rediculous.  the rest of the car is perfect as they did a frame-up on it.  Please help!
