Title: 30-U shock absorbers
Post by: Soup on March 11, 2018, 06:05:29 PM
I recently acquired a set of Delco-Lovejoy shocks for my car but am unsure as to how they are to be mounted.  Does anyone have any pictures of the front and rear shocks in place?  I believe I have the correct hardware but that is pure speculation on my part.  Thanks.

Thanks for the picture.  I see that you have the dampening springs in addition to the front shocks.  I was wondering if the cars originally came with one or the other and kind of assumed that since the shocks were an option cars without them had the dampening springs and cars with shocks did not have the dampening springs.  Do you know if your shocks were added later?

I am pretty sure that shocks were standard equipment on the 30-U. But I am not a 30-U expert by any means.

I would love to get the answer to that.  There is no mention of shocks in the first edition instruction book and they do not show on any of the chassis pictures so I assumed they were not standard equipment.  Someone must know the answer.  My car was a very original one owner car and had no shocks or the mounting plates for them.  It is possible that the shocks might have been removed at some point but I doubt the mounting plates would also have been removed.
