When I did so on my '40. I took the rear bumper off, aligned the gravel pan with the correct bumper brackets, put the bumper back on, and tightened the bolts, still there after almost 30 years

Thanks I was having trouble with the gravel pan not lining up with the bottom of the body and though it should bolt
Under neath.  I discovered that the pan is not flat and needs to be fixed.
Thanks for the help.

on my '40 there were no holes or studs to bolt the gravel pan to the rear of the body under the trunk, by bolt it to the fender brackets and installing the rear bumper, that was all that the gravel pan, ie "Cat walk" need to be held in place

I know that the question being asked in this topic is about the rear gravel shield for a '41 Plym. I was wondering if the shield was originally attached to the body, and not just the bumper.
The gravel shields on the '39 & '40 Plym were only attached to the bumper bolts that secure the bumper to the bars.
