Title: Window Sweeps
Post by: 33plycoupe on November 24, 2005, 12:27:27 PM
I'm making preparations to have my 33 Plymouth Coupe painted this winter. Does anyone know if the 33 had window sweeps? My car has small, probably 2 1/2 X 3/8 plastic pieces pressed into notches near the bottom center window opening  in the metal trim and door. I'm guessing these are to keep the window from vibrating too much when partially lowered. I have seen window sweeps for sale by the foot from Andy Bernbaum's. If it did originally have window sweeps, how would they be attached?? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

A parts book is a fine thing to have and while it does not have enough pictures you can often ferret out answers to questions like this from it. They are being reprinted and at least one reprint vendor regularly advertises on eBay.

In group 23-K (coupe windows) there are two parts listed for you:

Door glass bumper (2 req'd) for PA, PB, PC, PD. Part # 343709
Door glass bumper (outer) (2 req'd) for PC, PD. Part # 357678

These are rubber bumpers that, in theory, keep the glass from rattling about in the door. They snap into the holes on the door and window garnish frame and are fairly long. I believe they are available from Steele Rubber but I don't see them in the online catalog on their site:

(I have typed in glass correctly as g-l-a-s-s, but it appears that this web site has decided that a double s after an a is a bad thing. Weird.)

Thanks for the info. I can always depend upon your quick and accurate responses. Thanks again, and I will begin looking for a parts manual. Thanks again.
