anyone know the material the is on the back side of the panel that attached to the firewall and has the gas pedal attached and the shifter through it?
sorry thats on a 33 plymouth pd
I might, but I am not clear on what you are asking about based on your question. Since the shifter mounts on a frame cross member and the gas pedal linkage is attached to the bottom of the firewall, neither of those go through anything on the firewall. So I am not sure what you are referring to. . . Maybe the "dash liner assembly"?
I think he is referring to the upper portion of the floorboard. I have used window mounting material, but mine is only a driver.
there is a metal panel the angles from the firewall to the floor the the shifter sticks through it and the gas pedal is attached to it and the clutch and brake pedal also go through it on its back there are tabs I assume some kind of sound barrier or something else was attached to it
Ahh. The metal toe board piece. At least that is what I call it.
I haven't touched mine and what was on there over 40 years ago when I got the car is still on it. Given the condition of the car when I got it, I think what I have is original. It is a press board material, probably less tough that MDF but looks a bit like low quality MDF and is about 1/4" to 5/16" thick. Hard to get good photos when the toe board is in place, but I've attached a couple.
Here is the toe board I made for mine, hat came with it was 2 piece 1/2" ply but should have been steel. Being RHD and there was no way I would find one
thanks great info much appreciated
