Title: 34 plymouth spare tire
Post by: estol harp on December 15, 2016, 02:00:58 AM
I just bought a 34 sedan and the spare tire is flat. It is mounted on the rear of the car in the enclosed carrier. Does anyone know how to get the lid off ? The key turns in the hubcap but that's as far as I got. Do I pull the hubcap off ? Does the whole cover come off with the hubcap in place?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure on the '34, but on the '33 there is a clamp/latch at the bottom of the optional/accessory metal cover for the rear mounted spare. With that unlatched the chromed band around the cover is loosened and the two halves can be separated. With the back half (which has a hubcap on it) removed you can get to the lug bolts holding the spare tire onto the carrier.

Thx for the reply Tod...
Mine has a hubcap with a key. There is no metal band.
