Title: Plea for someone to save some cars a Plymouth included
Post by: POC-Admin on August 01, 2016, 01:50:40 AM
I got this message from a guy in Utah - he is trying to save some old cars - if you are interested - let me know and I can give you his email address Here is the message I got from him.

Thanks for responding.  The problem is the man was somewhat of a hoarder.  He as a
55 Chevy with a new motor and partially rebuilt front end.
Studebaker cab, box and other parts.
A Pontiac Safari body in not bad shape, a
62 Ford pickup that can run,
the old Plymouth, several engines, transmissions and parts of other cars.
There is also a damaged S10 truck in the driveway.
Believe it our not, over the years I got him to get rid of an old beat up Volkswagen, and got him to give a
64 mustang to his neighbor.

As you can see, when you see the whole picture you can see why she feels the way she does.

At this point, the widow wants to just take a breath while she makes funeral arrangements.  But he has had this stuff around for most of their 37 year marriage.  We talked about it, and when she decides to act, it will most like be to get rid of the stuff fast.  I do not think she wants to take the time and to try and get money out of the stuff.  She does not need it.

I have contacted the Studebaker club, Safari club, Chevy club as well as you.  I know that it can be hard to get these original parts any more, so I am contacting organizations to see if I can do so pre-work to be able to help her "dispose" of these things.

She talked me about her giving the lot to the Scouts or some other group that would mostly likely end up selling the stuff for scrap.  She is ready to call "Kidney Cars" to haul some away.  As I said, all I am trying to do is get these cars into the hands of people who might want them.

As you can tell, if you had that many cars mostly in your garage and side yard for 37 years, it would be a sore spot.  She wants to remember the good things, not be reminded that he NEVER finished a single car.

Once again, thank you for responding.

We are in Syracuse, Utah which is about 25 miles north of Salt Lake City Utah.  If you know of people that might want these things let me know.  I am going to talk to her about putting them up on Craig's List.  Right now she is still morning, and has to go though the ordeal of making funeral arrangements and telling the story of his passing over, and over again to people who call.

Let me know if anyone wants these things.  As you said, some of the things like the 55 Chevy and the Safari (I have only seen two in my life) could be worth some bucks, but as I said, if it is the choice between hassle and money, she will choose the NO HASSLE route.

It is in pieces but not much rust and all there - except for the drive train.
