Title: Tires
Post by: racertb on February 20, 2016, 07:41:58 PM
Looking for tires for my P20 Special Deluxe.  I've checked Coker, Universal, etc.   What does Jim B. offer and what are his prices?  I've emailed him and sent him a private message through here to mo avail.    Are Goodyear's the original tire for the car?  Does it matter if trying to keep all original?

Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

Can't say why Jim has not responded nor do I know his prices, but the Goodyear "All Weather" (diamond tread) tires were standard on Plymouth for a lot of years in the 1930s. I would guess that by 1950 when you P20 was built the tread pattern was different even if the vendor was Goodyear. But I am not that familiar with the details on the post war cars, so I could be full of it.

I'm thinking that the Goodyear Super Cushion's that a few vendors have available is what is most correct for the car and I assume that may be what Jim has available.  Although they may not be correct, I'm looking at some Firestone's I like with a 3 1/4" whitewall.  Cheaper and free shipping.  Yes, they are bias ply like the Goodyear's and that's fine for this non-daily driver.   I've driven my '29 twice to Daytona (200+ miles each trip) on skinny bias tires and the ride was fine lol.   Still curious what Jim has to offer...

If you have a copy of the bulletin, Jim should have one or two ads in the back pages about the tires
