I have (or will) change out the pinion seal into the rear diff. There is a tube like canal on the bottom of the rear end-encased into the rear end that dumps into the front of the rear end right by the seal I am installing-? I would imagine that when the diff. is full that canal is full of oil and Pumps-? that into the area of the bearing just in front of the seal-? I found the hole where the oil comes out (into the rear end)..why do I need this-? I have repacked the large bearing
that came out when I replaced the seal..Thoughts-?
The tube , as you call it ensures that oil circulates. The action of the gears makes for a lot
of oil movement. There is no need to pack the front bearing except for initial assembly. No harm done
certainly.
These are generally very trouble free units.
