Title: Fiery Plymouth wedding and baptism: my friend Axel & his Sarah , Saturday, 27.07

- From the perspective of the driver -

After the civil status marriage long ago, they combined their church wedding with the baptism of their ? year old son Maximilian.

Just before the departure of the beautiful bride from the Hotel in D?sseldorf to the church 10 mls away, the rain stopped.

The convertible top could only stay open for the first and last few yards, otherwise every careful styling of bride and bride?s mother would have blown away. You can?t drive even a bridal car over highways at 10 mph!

The arrival of the bride at the church took place in finest weather now.

The ceremony was really wonderful, an intelligent, sympathetic priest, happy guests and a fabulous couple.

When  wedding ceremony was just done and  before continuing with the baptism,   the organist interrupted by the microphone and urged the community to immediately leave the church, because in his organ, a fire had broken out. Now it smelled already ticklish everywhere!

He had already called the fire brigade  and when he opened a cabinet of the organ, from the dark smoke escaped from it.

We could not discover flames. The firemen, however, left no rest until they had the cause, namely scorched, exploded electronics boards found. After a 2007 church roof fire because of dust inflammation in D?sseldorf, old dust must be considered as an enormous fire hazard.

Surrounded by six fire engines, the bridal car in matching red too, a police car and an ambulance, the baptism was meanwhile continued outside on the square, a small table replaced the altar. To the great chagrin of the community, however, a befriended singer could not offer some specially choreographed music because of the absence of musical accompaniment. On top of that, the poor bride was even stung by a wasp! While cooling and Fenistil were immediately provided from the neighborhood, the pain was very scary anyhow!

Among numerous admonitions, that I should drive very carefully after all this turmoil, I drove the couple back to Courtyard Hotel, where refreshments and amuse-gueules was offered on the quay. This location has been used as cargo port until 10 years ago, know it is a recreational area, marina, restaurants. One after another, waiters let fall complete tray of filled glasses glasses on the stone pavement ? three times!

Unfortunately I could not stay to attend the wedding party until the evening because of a family obligation.

Uniquely beautiful it was, against all odds, worthy and happy at the same time.
Sarah und Axel: Best wishes for You, fireprobe and glass culllets bring You luck!
- Feuertaufe und Scherben bringen Euch Gl?ck!

Euer Go Fleiter

Today we tried George Asche?s new Overdrive Solenoid and made 45 min. trip to "Castle of Dyck Classic Days" (as visitors, not presenting the Plymouth at the Concours d?elegance)
Very stylish people and cars, mostly european, half of them british.
They close roads to allow for a race track (couple of miles, moderartly driven!) - I never heard a gang of some dozen Blower Bentleys racing! Incredible! One of them: The Mother gun car Dyck, last (?) year: (sorry, google images of it,...)
