Title: coolant leak under water pump
Post by: atlbluz on June 12, 2013, 12:51:41 PM
Is there a freeze plug behind the timing cover of my L-head?  I just installed a new water pump, everything looks seated but I have a major leak in this area.  This motor was rebuilt in the 60's, so I am concerned that maybe  this is what is causing the leak.  Has anyone else had a similar problem?

The bolts that hold the water pump in place go into the water jacket. Make sure the bolts are good and the threads are clean. I Have used plumbers sealant on the threads. The only other thing it could be is gasket on the back of the pump.
