Title: 1941 Wipers
Post by: Mike41 on February 27, 2013, 07:22:38 PM
I just acquired a ?41 P12 and it is missing the entire windshield wiper system, the only thing left are two holes in the cowl. The question I have what other years(if any) would fit and I have seen both vacuum and electric set-up, are they interchangeable.
Thanks for any information.
Mike

Mike, You can expect to get away with a set-up from any closed car 1940 Plymouth, but that is it. I do not know a thing about the electric, aftermarket set-ups, so maybe someone else can chime in on that.
I am about 98% sure that I have a total set-up, including motor, transmision arms, towers , bezels, nuts.... in current stock. If interested, drop me a line. I will head out to the frozen tundra to search the boxes (burrrrr).

I do know that electric wipers were optional on the Dodges in the early '40's but not sure about Plymouths, I do know that the '40 Plymouth only had vacuum.

Thanks for the replies, I would like to go with electric if possible, do the Dodge and Plymouth setups interchange?

Mike,

I can't answer your question, but according to my Master Parts list book, the 1941 PT125 had electric wipers, but not the cars.  Also according to my book, like Lindsay mentioned, all the parts from the 1940-1942 will work.  My book only goes to 1942.

I would suggest you contact Ply 46 and bigaadams who are both members of this forum, they should be able to steer you in the right direction

Hope this helps.
Bob

The PT125 electric wipers were also optional but they are completely different from the car.  The car has the wiper mounted at the bottom of the windshield - the PT series wipers are at the top.

Opps, I'm bad, I knew the difference but forgot to mention it.  Thanks Jim

Plymouth and Dodge, for 1940 and 1941 do not interchange. Gotta stick with Plymouth stuff on this item.

Did you receive my email regarding the wipers.
Thanks

Mike,
Received your request a few months back but nothing since then. My ISP has decided that "they" should be in control of all spam filters, not I.... I am not real happy about it. Try me once again and see if it will find me. Sorry about this.

Lindsay,

Just sent another email, let me know if you do not receive it.

Thanks
