Title: Transporting Large Heavy Auto Parts
Post by: CHS on May 30, 2012, 05:18:46 PM
I had the opportunity to get an overdrive transmission for my car. The part was in the midwest I live in Florida. UPS wanted 400.00 to ship it. Because of the size and weight they had to crate it for shipping. I am wondering if there is a company that ships large items for less. I had a whole car transported from NY to Florida for 500.00. I looked in my Hemmings Motor News and only found auto transport under services offered.
Does anyone know of a transportation company that ships large or heavy car parts at reasonable prices?

just for giggles I went to Geryhound package express and put in Cleceland Ohio and Jacksonville Fl.  with a length of 42 inches and a weight of 60 lbs the quoe came in a 77 bucks.  your seller would probably need to wrap in in plastic and strap it so a suitable pallet, and trasnport it to a station, and you would have to pick it up at a station neaar your but that semms like 1.10 a pound.  Pretty reasonalble.
