Title: steering wheel turn cancelling protrusion
Post by: dickf1976 on May 07, 2012, 01:10:16 PM
'56 Belvedere (4-door sedan). The car came w/ a Fury/Hollywood style steering wheel (in awful condition) that has 2 metal protrusions on the bottom face of the "hub" (extension of metal armature). The two protrusions cancel the turn signal activation mechanism. I bought a used regular steering wheel, but it has nothing protruding from the bottom face of the rubber hub. There is an opening in the hub, through which a bolt could be inserted. Q - Does the regular steering wheel require one bolt to cancel the turn mechanism, and if so, how far should it protrude from the bottom face of the hub? OR does it need two protrusions? OR, do I need to attach a circular metal plate (w/ protrusions) to the bottom face of the hub -- and if so, where do I get one? Thanks.
