The temperature Guage on my 39 stopped working. Any pointers on how to best analyze the problem & repair would be appreciated

Thanks

Did it just stop working. Or did it just stop working when some repairs or modifications were being made near the capillary tubing or the sensor bulb in the head?

If the tubing or bulb has been damaged and the ether lost, you can repair it. See my page at http://www.ply33.com/Repair/tempgauge

If it failed for some other reason, then all bets are off if that repair will work. Unfortunately the unit is a sealed system so diagnosing one part or another of it is difficult. I guess you could remove the gauge and cut off the capillary and bulb as if you are going to do the above repair but then rig a way  to pressurize the capillary into the gauge head to 40 or 60 pounds or so and is if the gauge head still functions before wasting $18 to $20 on a donor gauge for the above repair.

Hi Tod

Thanks so much for your reply - unit just didn't work 1 day when I started it up. Appreciate your expertise, & web link - excellent info. I'll take the tube apart & see what's up - a good winter project.
