Post by: Johnr72hd on December 16, 2011, 03:26:28 PM
Does anyone have information for the replacement of the 1940 Plymouth sealed oil filter with one
that has a filter that is changeable?

Factory style part numbers at http://www.ply33.com/Parts/group10#10-26-06

There are aftermarket filter housings too that were made by companies like FRAM.

For myself, I've picked up Chrysler part 1123152 which uses the NAPA 1080 filter element to use once my stock of sealed canister filters runs out.

But you can still buy the sealed canisters from specialty suppliers like Roberts Motors. Look for part T45 on page http://www.robertsmotorparts.com/car_parts.asp?Action=search&c=Cars+-+Engine+Area+%26+Related+Parts

And I believe that the FRANZ filter is about the same diameter as the stock filter, so you might be able to use that. I'm considering that option as I think it will do a better job filtering than the NAPA 1080 filter element that fits in the housing I have on the shelf.
