Title: Split maniford or headers
Post by: pondcarp on April 25, 2006, 09:51:17 PM
I am looking for a split manifold or a set of headers for the 215 flathead.  I had this same engine in a 51 dodge wayfarer convertible way back in 1953.  I did have headers for it and would like to put some on this 52 plymouth cranbrook.  Any help would be apprediated.
:)

A number of the folks over on the discussion forum at http://www.p15-d24.com/ have done that modification and can help you with selecting suppliers.

Just what is the reason for wanting a split manifold and or headers? Are you building a race car or do you just want to make a lot of noise?
The fact of the matter is that either will do nothing as far as improving the performance of your engine. If you are building a race car and intend to operate it at RPM's over 3,000, then headers would be good if you have the cam/carbs and ignition to go with it. On the old POC Forum there was a very long tread about exhaust systems, the pro's/cons of modified vs stock.
When it comes right down to the nitty gritty of it, stock is as good as it gets for general street use....Bill
