I have been looking for quite some time for a red firewall patent plate for my 39 P8... This plate is an elongated oval, red in color that is common to the late '30's and '40 Plyms.
I have the original plate, however the color and writing faded off long ago do to the 38 year exposure to the Montana weather.
I have seen these plates on ebay, however, the items on ebay are meant to be used on hot rod/street rod cars in lieu of correctly restored cars. I guess what I am looking for would have to be an original plate in near new condition.... Any help will be appreciated.....Bill
There is a fellow that used to be at all the swap meets, but is now to busdy to go that makes plates. Try Jerry Turner, Nostalgic Reflections, 509-225-3522, or nostalgicreflections.com
Be forwarned, he is not cheap.

Last year I was restoring a 1961 StarCraft boat that was missing it's identification plate. I searched some boat forums to find pictures of what the plate should have looked like. After finding a suitable picture, I emailed the picture and the specific information for my boat to; Machine Plates Online. Using the picture as a model, they produced an identical plate with the correct information for my boat, then mailed the completed identification plate to me. The entire process took a week or two and cost $30.
I suppose they could do the same for just about any tag or plate a person needed, including your '39 Plymouth. I was throughly satisfied with the service, the outcome and the price. You can find them at www.machineplatesonline.com. I hope this helps.
