Title: Distributor Adapter to the engine
Post by: SD Glenn on August 15, 2011, 10:04:11 PM
Does anybody have a ? piece that fits between the distributor and the engine on a 1929 Plymouth "U" 4 cyl engine? Attached pictures of one that I thought would fit... it doen't, looks right but its not, however I can attach it to the engine unside down. The distributor fits this one but does not fit hanging upside down. lol  It seems to be built backwards... the bolt holes are opposite to where they should be. Maybe from a Dodge? or later model Plymouth?.Take a look at the pictures and maybe it will tell you more than I can. I need one pretty bad.
Thanks
SD Glenn

Being as I had no replys on this post, I did the sensible thing. I hit the "search" area.... typed in what I wanted and there were posts from a ways back that told where to go in order to buy this item. Kind of a high priced item!!!!! I thought "How hard can it be to build one myself". SO, that is what I did, it took a few hours but I got it done and it works great. (I am only hoping it holds up for me.) lol  It doesn't look the greatest but does the trick.

I would like to see how You did this one! It must stand mechanical load?

Greetings from  Portofino, Italy (gone by plane: Liguria province is no Plymouth land because of lacking any parking possibility for cars bigger than Fiat 1100...)

Hey Go,
Wish I had taken pictures while I was working on it, but I wasn't very proud of it (It looks terrible rough) I won't take it off the car again unless it breaks... I think I can get a couple pictures, from under the hood, and explain what I was thinking, Maybe one from each side might work. I will do that in the next couple days. If I find an original part I will replace it, I'm not that sure it would stand up to a long trip or many miles of driving.  I did put about 30 miles on today and will put a few more on tomorrow. So far so good.
