Title: National Meet
Post by: plym_46 on July 27, 2011, 06:50:41 PM
So there was a meet in California, apparently only Mark and his 41 attended.  I thought this was the official forum of the POC, if so why was there more coverage of the Natioinal POC met on the independent P15 D 24 forum that there was here?  Apparently disinterest the more prevailant attitude here.  Its sad and getting sadder.

We lost most of our partecipants here because of annoying slow server speeds. It began 3 years ago.
Now it is working better, maybe because we don?t have more than 1 person online at the same time any more.

The lost fellows don?t come back.

I didn't get to go, late harvesting of the hay. Cold wet weather here in Oregon.

But, 12 of my fellow club members did make it. We had a nice slide show of the cars last night at our club meeting. They brought home three trophies and the Region Attendance award.

Jerry and Joanne Dixon got a first place for their 67 Barracuda Formula S. To give you an idea of attendance The Dixon's (from Vancouver, WA) also got the Long distance award. There were cars from farther distance, but they didn't drive there under their own power - you know something called trailers.

Tom Nachand got a third place for his 33 PD Convertible.

That is all I know for now.

Living here on the east coast, I was hoping there would be some photos posted of the cars at the event, instead of having to wait for the bulletin

Just seems a shame to me to waste this forum and not share photos with all of us

My thoughts,

Some resent health issues prevented me from attending the National Meet in Pacific Grove. In my humble opinion, it is very unfortunate, that for some unknown reason people felt more comfortable making postings to the P15-D24 forum about the National Meet in lieu of doing so here on the POC forum.
Everyone knows that in the past, as GO said earlier, the POC forum has had some issues with slow speed... Mark has done a good job of resolving the speed issue.

An inability to post pictures to this forum is a problem from my point of view... I would dearly love to post pictures of some of the issues I have had to deal with in the rebuilding of my '39 Plym conv. I visit many other forums on a regular basis. The Early V8 Ford, Ford Barn, P-15-D24, Buick and a few more. I have no difficulty posting pictures directly from my computer to a topic I am contributing to... I don't have to use an off site photo web site, nor do I have to crop and/or adjust the pixels of my original photo. As we all know, this is not the case with the POC bulletin.

It would appear that the electronic age we are in is very fickle.. It does not take much for the "citizens" of a web site to become bored with the topic content, and/or to slow of a reaction time by the server, for the citizens to move to another media. An example...The high school I graduated from in Idaho had a very active forum.. It was started by an alumni that got upset when Classmates started charging for membership. After a period of many years and many server problems because 'Henry" had to keep expanding the site to accommodate the members, Henry finally had to resort to asking for donations to support the sever fees he was paying.. Within a few short months the forum crashed because of a lack of support.

So... how does my comments have any bearing on why none of the POC contributer's to the P-15-D24 forum felt that their comments pertaining to the National Meet were better served on the P-15-D24 forum in lieu of the POC, is a question that might have no answer.

I know from my point of view, I like the POC forum.... I hear from people from all over the world about my experiences in rebuilding my '39 Plymouth....Bill

I also have been hoping to see some input to this forum on the National meet. I hope we get some.  I don't understand why a lot of people have a problem with posting picture, I have never had a problem with posting pictures and I am not a PC wizz either. It only takes me 3 clicks and the picture I wanted to post is posted. Maybe I am just lucky. lol.
Take care,
SD Glenn

I have been photographically remiss. In fact I did not even look at the pictures on the camera until this morning.

Here are the few that I took during the tours and the meet. Please be advised that tour photos are difficult from the front of the convoy and my interests at the show were mainly pre-war and I only took photos of cars I had not seen before. So this is a pretty short set of photos.

I posted a new video that includes some clips from the National POC meet in Pacific Grove. I will post a link in this thread too so people who have not followed the other thread may see it. Please forward the link to anyone you know in the video. Some people don't spend much time online and may not see it otherwise. I really appreciate all those who shared their cars for the video.
