Title: oil change interval
Post by: dickf1976 on April 25, 2011, 03:32:57 PM
1956 Plymouth 277 V-8, with only 200 miles since being rebuilt. The driving pattern: during the winter months, start the engine every few weeks, and let it idle for 10-15 minutes -- car is not moved; during summer months, the car is driven every 2nd weekend on a 2 mile trip. No highway driving. I have just put in Valvoline VR-1 (10W30) and a new filter.

Q - when should I replace the VR-1 with fresh VR-1? (miles or time)?

thanks

driven much or not, it is better to change the oil after the driving season.  With the time, condensing water will  get into the engine and should be eliminated with the fresh oil once a year.

As Go mentioned, atleast once each year, I change mine in the Spring just before the driving season starts in ernest
