I have all the jack tools for my '40 P10 and would loke to put them in something resembling what they were in from the factory.
does anyone have any idea what would have held the tools and where in the trunk they be placed?

In 1961 I had a 1941 Plymouth 4 dr sedan, A wonderfull auto it was. That is pretty close to the 1940 model...
Anyhow, when I got a flat tire, and finished with the jack and tire tools, I would open the trunk deck, give the tools a throw and where they landed was anybodies guess (till the next flat) and they stayed there without very much rattling around. lol This might not help you, but, it may bring this topic up again, and I'm sure someone out there must have the correct info for you. You may wish to try this first!
Position your jack correctly on the rear of your car, as if you were attempting to change a flat. Start to jack the car up to a height that the inflated rear tire is off the ground. Bet you will not be able!!!
For some reason, if you attempt to change a flat tire, you can get the flat one off, but, can not raise the car high enought to replace it with a full of air spare!!!
At that point, you may find yourself looking for a reason to keep the old jack in the first place!
