Title: Torquoise Engine Paint 66 Ply 383
Post by: Art Schlachter on December 24, 2010, 11:12:04 PM
I am running into a problem getting the correct shade of Chysler's Torquois engine paint.   Have purchased it in past in spray cans and it was the correct shade.   I ordered some extra cans for touch-up from Layson's and the paint was more of a Dark Blue than a Torquois.   Layson's said that is what Chrysler is now issuing.   (this problem is prevelant throughout Chrysler's distribution system - not only at Layson's)    It is Chrysler part number P-4120752.   My old can and the new one has the same
Chrysler part number but the shades are worlds apart.   I cannot touch up my engine now without having to repaint entire engine and
once I do that the engine will be more dark blue than the original torquoise.   I sent a photo of the two cans of paint setting side by side to Chrysler and asked for an explanation.   It has been three weeks and I doubt I will hear back from them.   Anyone got any answers where I might purchase older cans of this paint that is the correct torquoise color ???   By the way, the problem is not only the two different color top caps between the old and the new, I tried spraying the new paint on a piece of metal and
the paint itself is not close to my original torquoise engine paint.
