Title: P19 temperature sensor
Post by: Tony D. on December 16, 2010, 01:28:16 PM
Hi All,
I was filling the cooling system on my friend's '50 Deluxe when water began to flow out of the temperature sensor fitting on the head.  After removing the fitting, I found that the sensor was missing the copper bulb at the end of the capillary tube.

Does anyone know where I can find a complete temperature sensor?
Thanks,
Tony

If it is the mechanical type gauge with a capillary tube, then you can get a replacement at the local auto supply store.

If you want it to work with the original dash unit, see http://www.ply33.com/Repair/tempgauge

Thanks for the info, the link to the broken gauge repair was very informative.  I'll check with O'Reilly's and NAPA in the morning.  I'm hoping that the machine shop that my friend chose didn't leave the bulb in the head!
