Title: Woodgraining
Post by: gillette on September 24, 2010, 10:26:07 PM
On another topic, I am attempting to follow TF's (excellent,) article on woodgraining, http://www.ply33.com/Repair/woodgrain. My research shows the colors of the original '33 to be lighter than what I've come up with, but I like this tone and this is not a "points car." The black dash is what I started with, (complete with optional temp gauge and horn button over on the left side of the dash.) The pics show my progress; wheel, door garnish, instrument surround in line for completion. GA

I like thebeautiful  result very much! Put some layers of clear polyurethane varnish over it to make it sunlight resistent! Mine got 6 PU layers and did not fade a bit after ~12 years!
Greetings! Go

Looks good. Interesting the detail differences between a PC and a PD....
